Getting a little burlesque

At Orion, we’re totally down for doing work when it comes to helping others, and when it’s for a great cause. Our most recent work was for the Philippine Australian Medical Association (PAMA), an association of doctors, surgeons and health specialists that undertake Medical Missions to the Philippines annually. It is here where Australian and Filipino doctors educate the local community and serve patients by undertaking major surgeries including cleft lip and palate repairs, burn reconstructions, down to the very basics of health education to the local community and providing a free toothbrush.

The Brief

Orion was approached to design an invitation and souvenir program for the 19th Anniversary Celebration fundraising event for PAMA’s 5th Medical Mission. The theme for the event was ‘Las Vegas’.

Design

Taking the Vegas theme into consideration, the artwork utilised Vegas’ iconic Welcome sign and abstract silhouettes of burlesque show girls, incorporating a vintage look and feel.

The Design and layout of the publication was a significant improvement from the previous year’s demonstrating a stricter use of layout and guides for text, imagery, and white space.

Final Thoughts

Whilst the process of collating content and advertisements was quite long, and at times arduous, the end result is a professional design that shows how conceptual themes can take the end product that little bit further.

On behalf of PAMA, I would like to express my sincerest gratitude for your generous support and donation to the cause of PAMA. Your contribution to the charity ball was tremendous and indeed crucial to its success… Thank you Sam, for our Charity ball invitation and souvenir book, you have done a very good job.
