Ozstyle Homes

We just finished a site for OzStyle homes, which takes advantage of Google’s new font API. Check out their range, it’s small now, but if I know Google, it’ll get bigger.

You might be asking yourself, ‘what do you need that for, Dude?’, well I’ll tell you and good on you for speaking up. Recognise the font this post is written in? It’s Arial. One of the very few web safe fonts (helvetica if you’re on a Mac, you snob {got an iPad do you? Oh, well good for you}).

Know how many websites are on the web? No, well neither do I, it’s huge and I’m busy. So to summarise: a lot of companies use the same fonts on the web, which means they all look the same. Anything to make that small pool of safe fonts bigger is a bonus in my book.

So basically, what you need that for Dude, is that while this service is still new, it’s just another way for you to stand out from the madding crowd, so jump on board.

You’re welcome.

P.S. Don’t even think of asking to use this if you’re a plumbing company. We’re watching you steve.

Google has been working with a number of talented font designers to produce a varied collection of high quality open source fonts for the Google Font Directory. With the Google Font API, using these fonts on your web page is almost as easy as using the standard set of so-called “web-safe” fonts that come installed on most computers.
