Take a few minutes to get personal with avid booklover and travelling enthusiast, Annalisse!
How long have you been at Orion Creative?
I’ve just passed my one-year anniversary of working here! It’s gone really fast.
What lead you down the creative agency path?
I think I’ve always been creatively inclined. My mum taught me to love books from a really young age and I’ve always loved writing. My kindergarten teacher told me I’d be a writer someday.
Do you follow any influential creatives on social and blogs?
I follow Tara Milk Tea’s blog and her Instagram. She’s a lifestyle blogger, but she mostly posts incredibly beautiful images from her travels abroad. Seeing her posts always gives me major travel envy! Whenever I get the chance to travel, I check her blog to see if she’s been to the place I’m going to and if she has any interesting recommendations.
If you weren’t at Orion Creative, what would you be doing with your career?
Maybe working for a publishing house. Or owning an independent bookstore… I absolutely love reading. I’m sure there would be a lot of work in owning one but something seems incredibly peaceful about it. I can see myself curled up on a big comfy chair with a book and a cup of tea after hours haha.
What would an ‘average day at the office’ look like for you?
Usually I get in and check my emails straight away, then I’ll go through and prioritise whatever projects need to be completed. I look after office inventory as well so I check the pantry and stationary cupboards regularly to see if there’s anything we need.
What’s the biggest or most complicated project that you’ve worked on at Orion so far?
I think the biggest is organising EDM sends for one of our clients. It involves a lot of liaising between different parties, and there are a lot of deadlines over a long period of time. It’s very satisfying when a round finishes! I also find writing articles challenging which is one of the reasons I love it. There is a definite art to copywriting, which is different to any other writing I’ve done before (I’ve been fortunate to learn a lot so far from the copywriters at Orion).
What do you like to do in your spare time? What goes on during weekends?
I love reading, watching Netflix and hanging out with my dog, Charlie. I also love the opportunity to catch-up with friends over coffee or brunch – brunch is without a doubt the best meal of the day.
Fave movies/TV shows/bands? What are you watching/listening to these days?
I can’t pick any favourites but I love watching stuff from the fantasy and sci fi genres like Practical Magic, the Harry Potter series and The 100. Music wise, I grew up with my Dad’s music taste so there’s a broad range of music I enjoy. Some bands/artists I like listening to are Halsey, U2, Matchbox Twenty and Snow Patrol.
What are the top 5 things that would make your stranded-on-a-desert-island list – that you just couldn’t live without?
- My dog Charlie
- Insect repellent (mosquitoes love me)
- A nice thick book that would take me a while to get through
- Some sort of shade (like an awning or something)
What are some fun or little-known facts about you that would surprise us?
I was born in Sydney but I lived in the Gold Coast for two and a half years. I also love travelling domestically and internationally. I’ve been lucky enough to travel through most of Australia and I’ve been to New Zealand, Thailand, Japan, England, Ireland, Italy, Monaco and France. I’m hoping that list of countries will keep growing!
Who would win a fight between Thor and Spiderman?
Definitely Thor. Spiderman is cool and all but Thor is the god of Thunder and you can’t beat that (unless you’re Captain Marvel).
What colour would you be in a crayon box and why?
Blue because it’s my favourite colour and it reminds me of the ocean.
If you could be any animal in the world, what animal would you be and why?
I think I would like to be a dog because they’re very loyal and loving creatures. They also have a pretty good life (mine does at least). He goes for walks, eats, sleeps and lies on my bed – he’s very spoilt!
