The Ingham Institute conducts world-class medical research within state-of-the-art facilities located in the heart of South West Sydney. Dedicated to making a difference in healthcare among local communities, the Institute plays a key role in facilitating clinical trials in the region.

There are more than 300 clinical trials conducted at any given time in South West Sydney alone, and the Ingham Institute wanted to create a campaign that would raise awareness among the region’s diverse multicultural demographic. In collaboration with the South Western Sydney Local Health District, UNSW Sydney and Western Sydney University, this initiative aimed to provide people with resources to access information about clinical trials and how to find one that’s suitable for themselves or someone close to them.

 

THE BRIEF

Orion was engaged to assist in creating the look and feel of the campaign, which would then be applied across all digital and print assets. This included a website, email campaign, info cards, posters, video animations and news articles. To gain as much exposure as possible and connect with the non-English speaking communities of South West Sydney, each of these assets was translated into five different languages – Chinese, Vietnamese, Arabic, Samoan and Hindi.

THE SOLUTION

To execute this campaign optimally, the Orion team worked collaboratively to ensure all of the different elements flowed seamlessly. From content and design to functionality and production, this project was an excellent example of working together to produce a campaign that makes a real difference to community health and wellbeing.

Website and EDM

The website and EDM were the key offerings of the clinical trials initiative. Our designers developed a website concept that clearly outlined each section and highlighted key information. We crafted copy that was clear and easy-to-understand, outlining:

  • What is a clinical trial?
  • How clinical trials work
  • Call To Action: Register for a free information pack (sent via email)

The email component also had to be concise, visibly highlighting links to the resources that helped find specific trials. The free information pack was aimed at someone interested in potentially signing up for a trial and finding out whether there was one available for their specific disease or medical condition.

 

Marketing Collateral

Once the website and email campaign were completed, we focused on creating print and digital collateral that directed patients to the website to be able to register for the clinical trials information pack. Our copywriters and designers worked closely to develop a double-sided card, A1 poster, and animations, which were distributed throughout GP offices and medical centres around South West Sydney. We also produced digital banners and wrote press releases to further promote the campaign.

To supplement the patient-based marketing collateral, we created an A5 double-sided information card that helped prep GPs and medical practitioners for when patients inquired about the clinical trials campaign.
