We rolled up our sleeves and got to work for a home builder in need of a brand renovation

Horizon Homes is an award-winning custom home building company based in Sydney that designs and constructs beautiful homes for comfortable living. A boutique builder lead by two property professionals with a combined 38 years’ experience, Horizon Homes limits the number of builds they do each year to ensure that every project gets the time and attention needed to craft a high-quality, intelligently designed dream home.

The Brief

Horizon Homes got in touch with Orion requesting a total rebrand to ensure the quality of their digital presence and marketing collateral matched that of their outstanding builds. The rebrand involved developing a new logo, building a new website, creating signage for their design studios and ensuring quality and consistency in their marketing collateral, such as their business cards, letterheads, presentation folders and banner meshes.

To start the project off, our designers visited the display home village where Horizon Homes is located, and did an analysis of their competitors within the village. We presented a mood board of initial thoughts and images based on their competitor landscape, with advice on aspects such as colour and iconography, to help differentiate and better position them in the market. This informed the final result you see below.

Horizon Homes’ felt their old logo wasn’t unique enough to demand attention, something that didn’t sit right with them considering their business is centred around developing some of the most jaw-dropping, unique custom builds in the country.

To answer their brief, we provided Horizon Homes with a number of different approaches, from icons and monograms to custom lettermarks, all the while exploring a range of typefaces that spoke to the quality of their product and boutique nature of their service.

Marketing collateral that makes an impression

With a brand new website and an innovative new logo, Horizon Homes also wanted the same levels of professionalism and luxury injected into their business marketing collateral.

Our team revamped Horizon Homes’ stationery, including business cards, letterheads, presentation folders and inclusion lists, as well producing signage at their offices, display homes and construction sites, to make a stronger first impression on potential clients.

Horizon Homes had a number of qualms with their old website that they wanted their new, Orion-built website to resolve, encapsulating everything from imagery, layout and colour choices to written content and website navigation.

Their old home page had next to no content, which was a big problem for both search engine optimisation (SEO) and user experience. Our new home page delivered much more, in terms of valuable information, their projects and service offerings. The old site also featured a single black and white background image on every page, which wasn’t very welcoming and didn’t portray the product or dream of home ownership in the best light.

To make their website feel more inviting and homely, we designed the home page so when potential customers visit it, the first thing they are greeted with is a full screen of rotating images of some of Horizon Homes’ most picturesque builds. After all, building beautiful homes is their bread and butter, and we wanted to put that fact on full display.

Their new site is built as an editable WordPress website with a custom dashboard to meet their specific requirements, including an extensive library of custom Gutenberg layouts. Horizon Homes are a hands-on business and wanted a website with a lot of flexibility, rather than more locked down system, and we were able to deliver the best solution for their needs.

We also took over the responsibility of managing Horizon Homes’ SEO, initially optimising their website’s meta data, header tags, page content and analytics tracking, and then conducting ongoing off-site management consisting of content marketing, digital marketing and profile building.
