Harmony collection rocks Ontera

Working alongside Kevin Harkin, Jeremy Mead and the Ontera team on the campaign for Harmony Collection has been great fun. The Harmony Collection is a range of carpet designs inspired by nature. We fully realised this connection to nature right across the campaign; from website to signage, logo design, brochures, photography, package design, email marketing, stationery, printing, and video production. We developed for the client a number of techniques to streamline the efficiency of the campaign and minimise costs for the client; a dedicated in-house photography studio (with magic powers) was one such technique.

Love your business blog

Love your business blog…and it will love you back.

Posting a business blog entry can be a little like date night. Ok, it doesn’t tick all those boxes.

But it does involve setting aside time to foster your relationships with your customers.  It can provide a break from the routine of a day in the office or on the floor, and a chance to let your creativity off its leash.

Why aren’t I ranked first on Google?

This is a question we hear all the time at Orion, and it’s not an easy one to answer. Google is constantly updating their own algorithm to provide users with the best possible search results, and the trend in recent years is to reward sites with great, well-written and original content over sites that spam keywords throughout their copy in an effort to rank. Meta keywords are out – great content is in!

Hello Sean

Another new addition to the team! We’re so happy to have Sean Rom around to write copy, make use of his extensive production skills and you know, make inappropriate jokes.

Is website content as important as design?

Mother’s are always right, aren’t they? Growing up, my mum frequently used to tell me: “It’s not what you say. It’s how you say it.” When we start the process of building or redesigning a site at Orion, our holistic view is based on a belief in the importance of that proven adage.

When it comes to websites, what you say – in this case being the design of your site, and how you say it – the copy/content and functionality, play equal parts in the success, or otherwise, of your website.

How running an email marketing campaign is like training to be a warrior

I was thinking the other day, while training to be a warrior, that it is a lot like running an email campaign… Kind of spooky in comparison actually.

Just like training to be a warrior, email marketing needs to have the proper planning, you’re not going to see results right away, you need to focus, you need to repeat the process a few times and you need to grow a beard and roar from a mountain top.
